Don't get me wrong because they're perfect for women too. Especially if you tend to have French ear wires fall out of your ears just when you use your cell phone!<br />
<br />
They're fairly easy to make though it does take me a bit of thinking, and looking at a finished one to get through my first set. That's why I make several pairs at a time! I get into a groove of making them and it's easier to bang out a bunch at once.<br />
<br />
These are the tools you'll need...<br />

<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;">I used 24 gauge wire for this tutorial. However, 22 gauge is perfect too and very sturdy. Cut two pieces of wire that are 2 1/2 inches long. File the burrs off both ends. Think about putting these wires through the holes in your ears...you wouldn't want anything sharp poking you.</span><br />

mandrel, then you can either use a wooden dowel or the barrel of a Sharpie marker. As long as the surface is smooth and round!<br />

This is where using<br />
24 gauge wire is more forgiving...you want to form the kidney shape around the mandrel while leaving enough of a "tail" to hook through the half loop.<br />

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I went to the American Bead Show in Charlotte, NC this past Sunday at the Metrolina Expo Center and came home with some nice beads and gemstones. I was a little disappointed with the show however. It was pretty small this time and my favorite wire guy wasn't there...so sad. Next time, I guess!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;">I was intrigued by a strand of 15mm x 15mm diamond faceted Silver Green Line stones. They were the first stones that I wanted to make something with for my Etsy shop. They're a pretty dark green with silver/white strands of color running through them. For some reason they make me think of Art Deco style...not sure why.</span><br />

Do you ever struggle with whether or not to wear gold, or silver jewelry with an outfit? Well, I have a couple pieces of my own jewelry that has both finishes and just love them because they're so versatile, so I realized that I should make something like that. This way you could pack it for a trip and have a necklace that should go with pretty much every outfit in your suitcase!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;"></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I took out my pretty 12 gauge non-tarnish silver plated wire (that I had bought from my favorite wire-guy at the last bead show!) and cut a 6 1/2" piece of it. I filed the ends smooth so as to have no burs to catch on any clothing. Then I hand-formed the shape. I didn't use a guide, just went with an idea that I hoped would look great with one of those square stones nestled in the middle of it. I hammered just the rounded bottom of it to flatten, and then came in with the ball end of the hammer to add some texture.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">My next step was to grab my 20 gauge gold plated wire and form a kind of cloverleaf using my Wild Wire jig. The trick is to make one small loop that's just big enough to slip over a peg. Wrap two loops, then slide it off the pegs, flip it over and form the last loop. This way you'll have a more flat piece...not as many layers </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">of wire </span><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">on top of each other. </span><span style="font-family: Arial;">Then using my</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;">rawhide </span><span style="font-family: Arial;">mallet I flattened and strengthened the piece.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;"></span><br />

This gave me an idea of where I needed to form a bail. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;"></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;">This is where my mandrel came in handy. I formed a bail that would be big enough to slide the necklace in and out of. I'm a firm believe in pieces having multiple uses. So, if you have a gold necklace, or a leather necklace, then this could be added for another look.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;"></span><br />

Did you know that trying to have a business on Etsy is real work? And I don't mean just making the (in my case) jewelry, taking pictures, and listing it. Oh no! That's the fun part. To start, you need to know what SEO means...Search Engine Optimization. And not just know what it means...you need to perfect it! I'm trying, but it's a crapshoot for sure. Plus I need to "socialize" on social media websites, ugh. Not really my thing. Though I do have A LOT of fun being on the Etsy Forums and getting into some of the threads. These people are FUNNY! Try reading them sometime. Find a funny title and go read it...trust me.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;">Let's see what I'm working with...I have this Blog, an Etsy shop, a Designed By Donna D Facebook page, and now a Pinterest "business account" for Designed By Donna D! I'd love it, if you like any of my jewelry, to follow me on Pinterest, like me on Facebook, and chat with me on my Blog! Having people who give me feedback, honest suggestions and critique would be fantastic. I can't grow and improve without hearing from you. Even if it's got nothing to do with my jewelry...just a question about how to do something. I'll do my best to get you a proper answer. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;">This is my latest item listed in my shop:</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;"></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZhdHNAbL5xnx2tYH_HJSNnlM4NpxJzoFYKiNlal6HAD1Pl4gPHohVWRHit2Izrao9KekQvvwgGf2RnRuucjWUhNdOdBgeZTH5ep5tTffcvm4LAQTuCNDqJfTchIBSHnSKNFyy7ugRvCs/s1600/Necklace+Silver+Wire+Wrapped+Milky+Green+Gemstone+(6).jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZhdHNAbL5xnx2tYH_HJSNnlM4NpxJzoFYKiNlal6HAD1Pl4gPHohVWRHit2Izrao9KekQvvwgGf2RnRuucjWUhNdOdBgeZTH5ep5tTffcvm4LAQTuCNDqJfTchIBSHnSKNFyy7ugRvCs/s1600/Necklace+Silver+Wire+Wrapped+Milky+Green+Gemstone+(6).jpg" height="320" width="268" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I had blast creating this focal point necklace! These milky green gemstones caught my eye at my local beadshop (Ain't Miss Beadhaven), and though I usually purchase my inventory through wholesale bead stores, or through bead shows in NC, I just HAD to have these! (Besides, they were having a sale!) I used the whole strand for a leather cuff I made, and purposely left these three beads to make a necklace. I had no idea how I would use them, but when I took them out to play with yesterday this is what happened.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;">What do you think, does this design work? What if I made it with different colors? Should I have wire wrapped the third gemstone in the middle of that bottom teardrop, or left it dangling like I did? I move things around constantly before making a final decision, but then again, it's MY aesthetic that tells me what to do. What if someone would love this design, but using different colored gemstones? I'd like to hear from you. Have a great day!</span>Donna Dhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06017120301677787854noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-319006763067110208.post-41599420921679859422014-12-18T16:47:00.000-05:002014-12-18T16:47:04.652-05:00Three and Five Row Beaded Leather BraceletsHi there! I hope everyone is prepared for the holidays. I'm done with my Christmas shopping, but there always ends up being one or two gifts that I still need to buy. You know the ones where you receive a check from a family member to buy a gift for your kids, so you have to run out to those super crowded stores and find something because it's too late to order a gift online? Fun! Fun!<br />
<br />
So my new jewelry-making obsession are those gorgeous three and five row beaded leather bracelets. I learned how to make them and boy are they time consuming! I have since made two bracelets for my Etsy Shop. I have to say that they are really fun to make and I can actually bring my macramé board downstairs and sit in front of my television, catching up on DVR'd shows, and work on a bracelet. I've realized that you have to think outside the box when it comes to colors because the bracelet is really a show piece. Here's a picture of each one, please let me know what you think. I'd welcome ideas for colors and/or beads for my next bracelet! Thanks for stopping by, Donna.<br />

<br />
I've discovered two things that I'm not very good at...photography and computer trouble shooting! Though, with time and the right search words, I'm able to muddle through the troubleshooting as long as I have the internet to teach me what I need. Long story short...I couldn't create a new post on my blog using my laptop...so frustrating! But thanks to internet searches I am up and running again.<br />
<br />
I was wracking my brain trying to come up with a tutorial that I would have wanted to see on a blog when I was starting out with the wire working. Maybe some tips to help with the process. I'm still learning tricks from other jewelry makers and it just amazes me at how obvious some of them are, but I'd never have thought of them myself!<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
I took a ton of pictures of the process I went through, but please remember what my very first sentence said...that I am not a photographer! The pictures I took made that fact very obvious, but you'll get the gist of what I'm explaining even through the blurry ones. I love seeing a picture with an explanation so that if you're a visual person, like me, then the learning curve will be much faster.</div>

Just to practice, I made a set of earrings out of a inexpensive steel wire. That's the best way to get your technique down. Don't use expensive wire or precious metals if you've never done this before. I used a 4 1/2" piece of wire for each earring.<br />

For this project however, I wanted to make a similar shaped pendant out of my good wire...12 gauge non-tarnish silver. A great tip is that if you have a piece of jewelry in front of you and you're not sure how much wire was used, then you can use a piece of string to follow around it's curves and then hold it up against a ruler to see how much wire you'll need to cut. You could also use a twist-tie (the ones on bags of bread) that way it'll hold it's shape until you need to stretch it out to take your measurement. <br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
For this spiral pendant I used a 6" piece of wire. Using your wire cutters, cut the wire to the length needed. Use a file to smooth out any burs on both ends. Go in one direction with short, light strokes to get smooth edges.<br />
<br />
<br />

<br />
Now you need to straighten the wire. For this gauge wire it's not very easy to use your fingers to pull the wire through several times, though this is great technique for straightening a higher gauge (thinner) wire. Place the piece of wire onto a soft cloth and using your mallet lightly tap the wire to smooth it out. Move the wire so that you can reshape it where needed.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Time to make the top loop...using your round-nose pliers, grab the end of the wire with the mid-section of the pliers. (You'll see where I used a Sharpie to mark lines on my pliers. This spot designates where I can make a 5mm loop. It's my most often used size loop, so instead of guessing where to grab a piece of wire these lines show me the way. Just touch them up when they start to fade.) Form the loop by turning the pliers with one hand and pulling the long end of the wire around the nose of the pliers until the wires touch.</div>

<br />
Now grab the opposite end of your wire and start forming your spiral...being sure to spiral in the opposite direction that you formed your top loop. This is where practice makes perfect. You need to go slow and move with the wire...don't force it too quickly or it will bend instead of curve for you. You can make a tighter spiral if you're not going to hammer it flat because hammering will make the wire expand some.<br />

I want the wire on this pendant to be flattened, so now I'll switch to<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwIyAEkLKXMNZRGfkaV6suwBWpQ6Ei_W6iAJWZeuVC5_A-FJAfi7C3bjcoyxN8cQ70qCxioNIwMSKWkXr2VrMxYZiRDJw98fcObtCEZWIl5eCdzfmEihP1BeUNrmMynV6Pz_koZ2b7xh8/s1600/Nov+2014+Blog+Tutorial+(22).jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwIyAEkLKXMNZRGfkaV6suwBWpQ6Ei_W6iAJWZeuVC5_A-FJAfi7C3bjcoyxN8cQ70qCxioNIwMSKWkXr2VrMxYZiRDJw98fcObtCEZWIl5eCdzfmEihP1BeUNrmMynV6Pz_koZ2b7xh8/s1600/Nov+2014+Blog+Tutorial+(22).jpg" height="135" width="200" /></a>my ball peen hammer. If you need to protect your wire because it's coated wire, then sandwich it between a soft cloth. This is where I'm at a loss for the best cloth to use because no matter what I've tried it gets "cut" from being between the wire and the hammer. I use my red felt and just have to keep moving it when it gets a hole in it. <br />
<br />
But for this pendant I WANT it to be textured, so protecting it would be an extra step. Using the flat of the hammer and starting at one end just hammer the wire flat. You'll see the kind of pressure you'll need to exert in order to flatten it. **Note: If you want your wire flat and not add any texture, then you need to keep your hammer flat and not hit the wire on an angle. You don't need to hit it very hard, just take your time and keep looking at it to see if you like it's look. You may need to re-coil the spiral a bit since the wire will "stretch" as you flatten it.<br />

To add texture to the wire you just need to switch your hammer around to the "ball" side. This is what adds the little dings and divots into wire. So, have at it...you can make as few or as many as you like.<br />

Using a soft cloth, polish the wire to give it a bit more shine. I use a "Sunshine Polishing Cloth".<br />

Here is my completed spiral! As you can see by my final picture how different in color the silver wire is from the steel wire. The steel is more gray, but it's great to practice on.<br />
<br />
My plan is to use this spiral on a necklace I'm going to design for my Etsy shop. I will wire wrap some crystals or gemstones onto it and then hang it from a leather cord necklace.<br />
<br />
If you'd like to see the finished product, then I'd love it if you would take a peek in my shop. Just follow this link: <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/DesignedByDonnaD?ref=hdr_shop_menu">https://www.etsy.com/shop/DesignedByDonnaD?ref=hdr_shop_menu</a><br />

I've always bought my goodies from online wholesalers or local stores. This bead show was in Charlotte so I asked a friend of mine to accompany me. Talk about two kids in a candy store! And the gemstones, crystals, and findings really did look like candy...bright enticing colors, sparkling under the lights. Yum!<br />
<br />
One of the gemstones I just had to buy was Russian Purple Charoite...gorgeous! I sat down in my workshop yesterday and had a blast doing some wire wrapping with the Charoite, and multi-colored Fluorite chips. The colors of purple, light green, and white look fantastic together.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I also worked on a few other pieces to add to my Etsy shop. I took a quick picture of all of them to share with you before I take my "professional" pictures to post onto the shop. I hope you like them. The four-strand bracelet I decided to design using my Yellow Turquoise gemstones. The colors played well with shades gold, and shades of green. Making a couple pairs of earrings to go with this bracelet proved to be fairly easy. I went in two directions...one was the obvious choice of using two more Yellow Turquoise gemstones and wire wrapping them. With the second pair I felt that the pearl would be a more unassuming choice...it matches, but would go with many outfit choices.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjabRq81MydrJNFuveVF-fv8oBp4tr8hvm5Kwy8O_auTA4rrIr96QbBg40n1VilYbjQ-Q0ZkqeDzu2UI_OBZ0WGYnb0Bok-EQ8OLwTHOZnpptupzdmOwOb-qZlZsttoLwq-1Ox22vq7SXY/s1600/edited+photo+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjabRq81MydrJNFuveVF-fv8oBp4tr8hvm5Kwy8O_auTA4rrIr96QbBg40n1VilYbjQ-Q0ZkqeDzu2UI_OBZ0WGYnb0Bok-EQ8OLwTHOZnpptupzdmOwOb-qZlZsttoLwq-1Ox22vq7SXY/s1600/edited+photo+1.jpg" height="289" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The other pairs of earrings were a wire wrapping design that I wanted to try. The shape looks great with teardrop gemstones or briolette crystals. The trick is making sure that the stone used has the right size hole so that it doesn't get "stuck" on the wire...they need to move a bit. I want the stones to move with you...to catch someone's eye when they're looking at you.<br />
<br />
Another American Bead Show is coming around in November and I'm hoping to make it to that one as well. I'll be a bit more prepared with a list of needs and wants to build my inventory.<br />
<br />
Have a great day!<br />

<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);"><br /></span>
<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">I want to apologize for not posting to my blog in a long, long time. But I have a really good reason...or should I say "excuse"? I have finally opened a shop on Etsy to try and sell my jewelry and support my habit...of jewelry making that is!</span><br />
<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);"><br /></span>
<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">Opening an Etsy shop had been a dream of mine, but never thought it would happen. Not because of time, or money, but because of my own fears. I tend to talk myself out of things that scare me. I like feeling comfortable...well, who doesn't? So, almost two years ago I signed myself up for Tae Kwon Do classes. That was step number one...get in shape doing something "fun", but that also scared the living heck out of me! Get over some fears and just step outside of my comfort zone. This Friday I'll be testing for my Red Stripe, so please wish me luck. I'm terrified every time I test, but then feel awesome afterwards!</span><br />
<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);"><br /></span>
<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">It probably sounds like I'm rambling, but Tae Kwon Do actually ties into my Etsy shop...stay with me... One day while sitting in the formal Do Jang watching my kids training I brought a Fire Mountain Gems catalog with me to pass my time. It just so happens that a woman sitting near me asked, "Do you make jewelry too?". Long story short, she's one of my best friends now, and she just happens to have an incredibly successful Etsy shop herself! I've helped her do some wire wrapping for her store during her busy season. She pushed me to open my shop.</span><br />
<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);"><br /></span>
<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">My mother just turned 90 on Monday and she's my greatest inspiration for ALL of the crafting that I do. I opened my shop as my "present" to her because she always asked why I didn't try to sell my jewelry creations. So...now I AM...no excuses! She's thrilled for me...she's the best mom...always supporting me and encouraging me.</span><br />
<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);"><br /></span>

<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">Thanks for listening...I'm just SO excited, and needed to share.</span><br />

And I realized that my previous posts "disappeared" to my 2009 archives. (Blogging is new to me!) If you want to see pictures of the name bracelet I had previously posted, please look at my October 3, 2009 post. It also has the prices listed. To contact me via e-mail please use <a href="mailto:pumpkin1966@msn.com">pumpkin1966@msn.com</a>.<br /></div><div>I'm also posting a couple pictures of a name bracelet that I added onto for someone. This wonderful woman got in contact with me because she'd seen my blog. She had received a name bracelet from her daughter as a gift several years ago. Well, she'd been blessed with three more grandchildren since she'd received it and she wanted the bracelet "updated". </div><br /><div><br /></div><div></div><div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5424558058344224770" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhP_Zs34QzlPJD16E75yMbDVDJr43bmB8TE3qjxKGOJTPPDb8UPU7b86qlpWK7Ug6uP17XbY6DXHJY09-HLGirvLWK8zZwfhZoQJyTsk7pha-YWgYkf4wyRvlc94sNvtIYUl3fwCaIVLpw/s400/OME+Bracelet+2.JPG" /><br />I added a second strand for her along with the three new Swarovski crystals that represented the birthstones for her three "new" grandchildren. I LOVED the way they came out...so pretty and feminine. My daughter won't see them until she receives them from her daddy and me, but I showed them to several family members and friends. I wasn't even thinking about making them for anyone else, but I already got some requests! Below are four shots I took of them:<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6dl62dsOvK4WdRQt_h8aX8h89qXRlNBDuGBzJJZ6g448Svoiu9Y-se21fXuuwPxsB3kWbbEfzyRBw5GiStzH0hcrf-lFTgKlFwzOhMu_b56CSMQLTxwF0rUwM0DkVlnpZtDEM-7PjIFA/s1600-h/Pink+Rosary+4.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 300px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5424546624957313106" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6dl62dsOvK4WdRQt_h8aX8h89qXRlNBDuGBzJJZ6g448Svoiu9Y-se21fXuuwPxsB3kWbbEfzyRBw5GiStzH0hcrf-lFTgKlFwzOhMu_b56CSMQLTxwF0rUwM0DkVlnpZtDEM-7PjIFA/s400/Pink+Rosary+4.JPG" /></a> It's all sterling silver and 8mm and 10mm Swarovski crystals. I made them using the Swarovski equivalent to my daughter's birthstone for October. This can be made using any of the Swarovski birthstone colors. Or any color that you'd like. Even in pearls this would be beautiful!<br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZ_gBgT0v-HFopwV4jj8NoI0FUvTKje71gi80OexFfEAONPluWubCvhFRpeR3IEv4jjNNcBtOm1fL_FUNLkUKSTziGXEuf-AE9Xg3LM96g_4aFBheL3f6LKb1pW85Gv80I973Gb1B4hhE/s1600-h/Pink+Rosary+3.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5424546621547289058" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZ_gBgT0v-HFopwV4jj8NoI0FUvTKje71gi80OexFfEAONPluWubCvhFRpeR3IEv4jjNNcBtOm1fL_FUNLkUKSTziGXEuf-AE9Xg3LM96g_4aFBheL3f6LKb1pW85Gv80I973Gb1B4hhE/s400/Pink+Rosary+3.JPG" /></a> I did not make them in a child's size...I wanted them to be something she kept, cherished and used in her adult life as well.<br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtXZw2EzpqcKTya3xgfOkISBliTSwmaeWGDFv5W_GMBTcOgtj_IuhRimLmePOPHXfuShT1VckXjxsBtk5UfxSHNI-3bzV7rsjqy6ULeTsqpca2mVuGVKgesxl3feeUjm87521ufR-M0ik/s1600-h/Pink+Rosary+2.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 300px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5424546616328530370" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtXZw2EzpqcKTya3xgfOkISBliTSwmaeWGDFv5W_GMBTcOgtj_IuhRimLmePOPHXfuShT1VckXjxsBtk5UfxSHNI-3bzV7rsjqy6ULeTsqpca2mVuGVKgesxl3feeUjm87521ufR-M0ik/s400/Pink+Rosary+2.JPG" /></a><br />Obviously this sterling silver cross is very feminine, so if you were requesting a set for a boy, then I would use a stone-free, masculine sterling silver cross.<br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgbEn3jRltrAZcRV8MN66Byu-EKhv9I_BN9YKRbgy3-6u8HhJbCzwP-C7jJ9aQjcc_ehdaoGYPoDxJn_um4ziVbzaunf-DAogZPhFUHhQDVxbD3AmqvBPlxUsokpJHP5BJUWS1xGMpzuo/s1600-h/Pink+Rosary+1.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5424546608407538114" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgbEn3jRltrAZcRV8MN66Byu-EKhv9I_BN9YKRbgy3-6u8HhJbCzwP-C7jJ9aQjcc_ehdaoGYPoDxJn_um4ziVbzaunf-DAogZPhFUHhQDVxbD3AmqvBPlxUsokpJHP5BJUWS1xGMpzuo/s400/Pink+Rosary+1.JPG" /></a><br />If you would like to place an order for them, please send me an e-mail or give me a call. For a set like this, using Swarovski crystals in any color choice the price would be $100. (If it needs to be shipped I'll let you know what the cost would be.) Of course, we could customize a set depending on your needs so the cost could vary based on the materials chosen. You could go "high-end" and use gold of course...or bring the cost down by using pewter instead of sterling silver. Same thing if you decide not to use Swarovski crystals and just go with a glass bead. The possibilities are endless!</div><div> </div><div>Please just remember that you need to allow 4 weeks from order placed to finished product. The process could be shorter than that, but it's best to err on the side of caution. First Communions are coming up this spring, so don't let it slide by. It would be a beautiful gift from a parent, godparent, sibling or grandparent!<br /><br /><br /><div> </div><br /><br /><br /><br /><div></div><br /><br /><br /><br /><div></div></div></div></div>Donna Dhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06017120301677787854noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-319006763067110208.post-25222102920181956982009-10-03T16:35:00.006-04:002009-10-03T17:41:13.804-04:00I'm Selling Name Bracelets!I've finally committed to making and selling my name bracelets! A friend of mine got one with her kids names on it and I thought, "I like it but it's not quite me." So, I came up with a design that I liked for myself. I like a little "bling" so Swarovski crystals had to be a part of mine. And another friend of mine needed a three name, 3-strand bracelet and she designed her own and I put it together for her.<br /><br />Needless to say, we've received a lot of compliments on them and I've been asked if I would make them. I spent last weekend figuring out the cost and will post them below. I can make either an all sterling silver version of the one below. Or add the 14k gold filled beads to make it versatile if you like to switch back and forth from silver to gold jewelry. I tried to take the best pictures possible of my bracelet, I'm not sure if it does the bracelet justice though. <br /><br /> <img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5388481670039156370" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjm9TFVrgjec4H18uY5t2VDnN5OgFc0sTZBdbXnSHHgm23Oox89L_sbAc6Rg3UpyCsQmFeFjhnmhpv5ELG2mJrbYLG-7z2uaJ0X8oct8ZEAxMbR8TCV9KUlCNUCbevBm1Rnx0KySi9oufw/s400/Name+bracelet+full+curved.JPG" /><br /><br />The prices include the affirmation heart charm attached to the bracelet. I'm sorry I haven't blogged in a long time...I just haven't felt the urge to type. I've definitely been busy with several projects though! I just started taking a Wilton's Cake Decorating class at Michael's and boy is it fun! I haven't even decorated anything yet! I frosted my first project cake and I'll be decorating it tomorrow night. I hope it comes out cute! My husband said to me yesterday, "Why is it that when YOU start a new hobby it costs ME more money?" Gotta have the right tools, right?!</div><div><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1Art1TKks1NFYptNGVA0fTIK17aEffbSCgMd4ZXXTPc_Om2oAKLvhrflL5I2KS_9oYXKftYnmByb4sRPyKqs0u5yTVDUQsjnRXRgsXQUwkUUGPzByzSpBjB__jDhQQvFGstFFu8xL_4g/s1600-h/God's+Handwriting.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5358002081935244322" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 150px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1Art1TKks1NFYptNGVA0fTIK17aEffbSCgMd4ZXXTPc_Om2oAKLvhrflL5I2KS_9oYXKftYnmByb4sRPyKqs0u5yTVDUQsjnRXRgsXQUwkUUGPzByzSpBjB__jDhQQvFGstFFu8xL_4g/s200/God's+Handwriting.JPG" border="0" /></a>I've made some Stampin' Up! cards on an "as need" basis. Although I did make this card to the left that I put onto my gallery on splitcoasterstampers.com. My gallery is under pumpkin1966. I also made a card that I submitted to Stampin' Up! for their art contest. I was in such a hurry to get it submitted that I forgot to take a picture of it. The good news is that it was published on Stampin' Up!s website in their "Show and Tell" gallery! It's a rooster card that I did for their "Only Orange" category, so it's tone on tone peaches and oranges.<br /><br /><br /><div>I've also been getting myself geared up to do some scrapbooking. I took two of my mother's OLD photo albums...you know, the ones with the photo corners holding the pictures in place! Anyway, I scanned 283 pictures from these albums and have them on 2 cd's now. (I did it at WalMart's Kodak kiosk.) MUCH easier to deal with! I then uploaded them to Shutterfly. LOVE this photo site!! I cropped and edited all the photos and then had them print 255 of them. I got them the next day even though I didn't request any special delivery!! So, currently I am trying to arrange them in a photo album that me and my kids can have access to.<br /><br /><br />It's been very interesting looking at the old baby pictures of myself. I didn't realize how much my SON looks like me when I was two! I always thought he looked like my husband...silly me!</div><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9-oMzBhJLTa3YEnB5HUtHs7Vr7fQvjAMHOiiLsKYz4jujXOV2iS0sKs6Ur64rKeh7uACaAnQszcPOUEI4v6Yi7FhPWmcnMhj9WQfCHE1j3jSJeJh7V8Gdkol9N5eu12IMISEA_uZyfcw/s1600-h/Grandma+bracelet+3.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5358002065917859394" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 150px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9-oMzBhJLTa3YEnB5HUtHs7Vr7fQvjAMHOiiLsKYz4jujXOV2iS0sKs6Ur64rKeh7uACaAnQszcPOUEI4v6Yi7FhPWmcnMhj9WQfCHE1j3jSJeJh7V8Gdkol9N5eu12IMISEA_uZyfcw/s200/Grandma+bracelet+3.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiItn5HtlKDhg6izy-yFw2tLz9owncPg-jZDIOpbeVaZPaXr3wIhQ93QMHz31K3wc8QJKrLoZEbDWnrYuVV6sQY46ptH2A2tipAAgOZJox5NmSbBF5WkZPRJ5qT-4vaLq8tsHV32v3G4C4/s1600-h/Grandma+bracelet+2.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5358002072330852386" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 150px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiItn5HtlKDhg6izy-yFw2tLz9owncPg-jZDIOpbeVaZPaXr3wIhQ93QMHz31K3wc8QJKrLoZEbDWnrYuVV6sQY46ptH2A2tipAAgOZJox5NmSbBF5WkZPRJ5qT-4vaLq8tsHV32v3G4C4/s200/Grandma+bracelet+2.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><div></div><div>I've also been making jewelry. A friend of mine commissioned me to make a grandmother bracelet for her mother. I did it in 14k gold and sterling silver. It's pictured at the left. The "birthstones" used to represent her grandchildren are the Swarovski crystals. I thought it came out so nice that I made myself a "mom" bracelet! I did not use my children's birthstones though. I put their names on instead using the silver cubes and made a double-strand bracelet with clear Swarovski crystals. VERY pretty! I get compliments whenever I wear it, so it makes me feel pretty good.</div><div> </div><div>Whenever I have an outfit that I don't have any jewelry that goes it I just run into my craft room and whip something up! It's nice having all the supplies. I'll be heading to Asheville shortly and heard that there are several beading stores that I just HAVE to check out. I'm sure I'll replenish my supply when I'm there!</div><div> </div><div>I hope everyone is doing well. Thanks for checking out my blog even though it's been such a long time. If there is anything that you would like me to post a picture of, please let me know and I'll do my best to do so. Take care!</div></div>Donna Dhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06017120301677787854noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-319006763067110208.post-22408186469817533152008-11-25T18:10:00.012-05:002008-11-25T19:49:51.089-05:00My Latest Jewelry Creations!Okay, here they are...pics of some of my new jewelry creations! I had a lot of fun coming up with designs for some of them. I like very simple designs and earth tones, but that's not to say that I can't make something out of pink and black with a little "bling" here and there!<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQKtVxeSpfddaaFfKqyV872x6cX9lhi7JCzcxM5yCbiIZn3xOK-mnlJj4XhsWDKwBbVZoxidg7OcQXY3r6UzKFxyvGqBMSN0syWkweOu-gmBDOQS5fLddy8fqOFVAZRz2G8IXZ2SC1ot8/s1600-h/PB240075.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5272757495843931538" style="FLOAT: left; I just want everyone to know that I have not disappeared. Please give me another couple of days and I promise to have quite a few new photos posted of what's been keeping me busy lately!<br /></div><div>I had my daughter, Jenny's, birthday (10/31)...her party (11/1)...her school's Fall Festival (11/7) of which I'm her class mom and was in charge of a scrapbooking basket to put together...and then a craft fair I had a table at on 11/14! Needless to say I've been BUSY! I'm finally not committed to anything "major" but of course I now have an amazing head cold to contend with. C'est la vie!</div><br /><div>For this craft fair my table was about two thirds jewelry and one third Stampin' Up! creations. I'm really happy...my table did well...surprisingly so! I got a lot of compliments on my jewelry, so I was very excited. It's nice knowing that I'm not the only one who likes my stuff.</div><br /><div>Here's a picture of me and my table. <img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5272030733056760002" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuSXHnlzHbrKUEcgp1bIgSvR_xeER_4ueFLknIKznnsYG9gCVmOOftmUqgw-cc8Q3vMwliWcydqbPFMqB_EYzTJU5rH_lpcQ21N_Clx-kmkBCdufO-GHUldzWrjb1204YjBxfx8oFQdjI/s400/Me+%26+my+craft+table+2.JPG" border="0" /><br />Check in again by Wednesday and I'll definitely have all my pictures up. I've been doing all kinds of projects...organizing projects...around my house. And between them and school starting I've had a hard time getting back on a schedule.<br /><br /><br /><br />One of my projects was to finish a 12x12 Disney scrapbook from a trip my family went on in October 2006! Yes, two years ago...what can I say?! I find that doing my page layouts first and then going back to add the pictures is much easier for me. If I did a page, added some pictures and then embellishments I would feel like I hadn't accomplished anything by doing ONE page.<br /><br /><br /><br />In the spring I did the entire layout. Then I went about printing ALL of the pictures that looked good. I printed a lot of them! (Better to be safe than sorry.) THEN I cropped them all on a different day. That was all in the spring. Then a few weeks ago I got the bug again and finally finished it...journaling and all!<br /><br /><br /><br />We finally have a book to show off our trip. It was a BLAST! We went to Disney World in October and went to the "Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween". I have to say that I HIGHLY recommend going during October. Not too many kids have breaks during then so the traffic in the parks is low. The weather is spectacular and the idea of trick or treating with the characters also dressed up in costumes is too hard to resist!<br /><br /><br /><br />Anyway, the point of this blog was to show you how I did my first "paper piecing" on one of the Halloween pages. I wanted something different that would pop off the page. I think it came out so cute!<br /><br /><br /><br />First I chose the patterned paper I wanted to use for the witch's hat, cape, shoes and broom. I stamped the witch three times; once on the white cardstock I was using for the main image, then once on the orange paper so I could cut out the hat and finally on the striped paper so I could cut out the cape.<br /><br /><br /><br />You can see this in the following three images:<br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5242630726916082626" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHXYSQQu5dbi0j9na0kH4idEhxk8DDL_VhVfopheVKPsM8rMJ50G6yKOk_gr6feCI0yaypu477_fk6EQB3k4azdttc-LR9KtGdYxCQ6stZYpistOCgJ09MquDktIsmwyRaGuoy-hmvGck/s400/P8220013.JPG" border="0" /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9BbVIgu19NjCV8hjrJ2iKfx7E-sqFtiS_7OXucekitG57czkYZhEeF02JAlDGQ7icSRjahNAV9PoTO10v4Gum0L3WfjdepbHPGtAmEKrcOiB08wjtsgYEVSTf5Yi3nPFLeRBTvsZzrs0/s1600-h/P8220017.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5242624490198368482" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9BbVIgu19NjCV8hjrJ2iKfx7E-sqFtiS_7OXucekitG57czkYZhEeF02JAlDGQ7icSRjahNAV9PoTO10v4Gum0L3WfjdepbHPGtAmEKrcOiB08wjtsgYEVSTf5Yi3nPFLeRBTvsZzrs0/s400/P8220017.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifEc5puLLAI6MTA0u6bOZgZ5n-6xyzl5JiNTMdM_K4_65f6pFWcxHJI16Vgtv4QdFdh23Dvncj-W165vukGQBlmyBNnd5917r4x64FgKidMmUH4_zm0X1wLOZq6QMQ9M7OX9_Trdnir2Q/s1600-h/P8220015.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5242624484070557842" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifEc5puLLAI6MTA0u6bOZgZ5n-6xyzl5JiNTMdM_K4_65f6pFWcxHJI16Vgtv4QdFdh23Dvncj-W165vukGQBlmyBNnd5917r4x64FgKidMmUH4_zm0X1wLOZq6QMQ9M7OX9_Trdnir2Q/s400/P8220015.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><p>Here I used my Stampin' Up! chalks and aqua painter to color in my "witch". Don't ask me what that "look" is called though. I wanted it to be a necklace people would notice, but that I wouldn't feel odd wearing. I'm not a BIG necklace kind of person. I love blue, especially slate blue, so my daughter (yes, I stole from her!) had a package of glass beads I had bought for her to make creations out of. However, she's a girl and girls like pink! Her loss is my gain.<br /><p><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5233368013609591986" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2GaX4eRx30wPSD2UrvA3HZqUX3CDiE3_a1AeeqAAVIX_kqqEVQBDFZwoQ4eubiexsjjM9wMiO8dSVRBjf0kUoEbcs7Le-S7DK6lfo5jRNdBmNuw3zdw6eR2PaRtYoD7IuUx8fdbI4mts/s400/Silver+Ring+Blue+Necklace+1.JPG" border="0" /></p>I hit Michael's and found these really cute silver rings with the holes in the correct position for these beads. I used seed beads from the same set to fill in where the bigger beads didn't fill the silver rings in. I certainly didn't want anyone to see the wire in between and think I was a newbie (even though I am)!<br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5233368047074764802" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjiTtW2-W3jqtFOneI44sS60gKOpfzRH_OYu_4YW6_1l7RzIiG7cXk-ng-COxkEvQNP6GmVIv8ekKY75QcC2zAugk4uOsi4aQ6H2aC1aG5_P2nrYHhEzr1Ol6CglFHnMrTm1JseLq0LvU/s400/Close-up+of+Wirework.JPG" border="0" /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5233368064042772770" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqbNjUAW8tI8Puq5S3D2UFXmP4IY4PhdG_2qWG8Uhv-xsHSu1W8sEChYD_7yUqAINI1v40vez03f0Blefn7KAHM1hK6hvi0PzwmCArkaSbOaipeqp-Adxyq7sMh3ZK6N8sj9LwQmZBdiw/s400/Close-up+of+Rings+%26+Beads.JPG" border="0" /><br /><br /><br />The spirals I had made while practicing my wire-wrapping technique. My goal is to eventually purchase real sterling silver wire to duplicate these spirals and replace them in this necklace. I was really happy the way it came out, but the copper-filled wire I used is cheap and brings the look of the necklace down a notch. Live and learn, right?<br /><br />Hope you like it too.Donna Dhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06017120301677787854noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-319006763067110208.post-22450888885048563072008-08-01T22:02:00.006-04:002008-08-01T22:35:45.305-04:00Too Much Of A Good ThingI haven't posted in a few days because I've been working on yet another kind of project. Last year I sanded down my natural-colored kitchen table and stained it a dark walnut. I liked the way it came out, but I didn't have the gumption to attack the six matching chairs.<br /><br />Last week I decided to tackle the remaining chairs...one chair at a time. I even decided I would take pictures of the major stages I was taking it through to share on this blog. HOWEVER...I hate the way the chair turned out! So, now I'm going to have to re-sand the sealer off the chair and paint it a dark brown. Right now I'm aggravated from that project and am taking time off from that...again!<br /><br />So, here's what I made to make myself happy again..."Too Much Of A Good Thing". I used the Certainly Celery, So Saffron, Pretty in Pink and Whisper White cardstock from Stampin' Up! The stamp set is called "Time Well Spent"...also from SU!<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUzngUkveT-W8or-JfP25Mts7eDTFa6Tr8OyIL6m8uTHv7_V4_BqaFDt5lpafMTb8sPd8ED9PmMgriZ4z-LYN2BDkgN3k4sisAsOeuy5D-HswMbGW4L_bwKtuypDo9qBT9TL2ToRDwV_4/s1600-h/Too+Much+of+a+Good+Thing.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5229735689059291698" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUzngUkveT-W8or-JfP25Mts7eDTFa6Tr8OyIL6m8uTHv7_V4_BqaFDt5lpafMTb8sPd8ED9PmMgriZ4z-LYN2BDkgN3k4sisAsOeuy5D-HswMbGW4L_bwKtuypDo9qBT9TL2ToRDwV_4/s400/Too+Much+of+a+Good+Thing.JPG" border="0" /></a> I had some extra long envelopes from a Stamp-a-Stack I did, so I wanted to make a long card and this is what I came up with. I'd seen a similar card in one of the SU! catalogs and loved the layout. I punched holes into the So Saffron piece using a piercing tool and foam mat. I colored the images using my coordinating Stamp 'n Write Markers, cut out the butterfly and "popped" it using a Stampin' Dimensional. I tied a knot in my pink grosgrain ribbon and glued it on using Crystal Effects. The card still lacked some "punch" so I decided to go back with my Basic Black marker and line "stitches" around the images.<br /><br />Now THAT made me happy to complete a project!<br /><div></div><br /><div></div><br /><div></div>Donna Dhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06017120301677787854noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-319006763067110208.post-57200190367573220272008-07-26T15:16:00.003-04:002008-07-26T15:41:29.240-04:00Amethyst Haute CoutureHere's a card I made yesterday. I had this in my mind for some reason and just had to make it before I forgot it. Again, this is all Stampin' Up! products. I used the following cardstock; glossy white, basic black and almost amethyst. The also used a piece of designer series paper in almost amethyst. The stamp set is an old hostest set called Haute Couture...LOVE this set!!! It's something I just had to have and bid on eBay for it and won! Woo hoo!<br /><br />It's a standard size card; 5 1/2" x 4 1/4". I stamped the image using a Versamark pad onto the glossy white cardstock(it makes a watermark of the image), poured my silver embossing powder over and heated it using my heat gun. I colored in the dress using my almost amethyst marker. The trick here is to go over the image once, then come back to 'darken' the areas you want to have shadows on. I punched the corners of the image and small piece of black cardstock using my ticket corner punch, glued them together and then onto the almost amethyst cardstock. I popped this using Stampin' Dimensionals (foam dots).<br /><br /><br /><p><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5227404496076776850" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhIX5tjB4RJcRL87uA3fX3J52I-sKkfEyCIfzRZnWnydAt3rGh0hFvRLjIoVVw-4N80IPP7YlQc8hCdRqK1R7NG6p0_kz8yG9gWc2W5PSAKl910I1j6aMm8yATEkkNjfBHMZGh3x0nBEWQ/s400/Amethyst+Haute+Couture.JPG" border="0" /></p><p>I made the silver spiral using 16 gauge wire, tied a piece of black grosgrain ribbon on and voila! To make sure it stayed in place I used a dot of Crystal Effects to hold it down. </p><p><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5227404500539750882" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtIAwazel_rPvy5yJbChvgRMkVwMoncyqHRHkX5cX4zpCT5jftsgy30XDnQbnO7aVfjNQYx8NKSDfspT-oGTAqxbRQ4B72C1qRZLi7Bjke2hLo-jC1KLSWpiTAuVETKDe69iQ5EEPTe2U/s400/Amethyst+Haute+Couture+%26+Envie.JPG" border="0" /><br />I always have to decorate my envelope to coordinate with the card. It makes the receiver excited to open this piece of mail first! Using my Aqua Painter and SU! chalks I colored in her hat, lips and cheeks.</p><p>That's it for today. Keep coming by to say hello & leave me some comments so that I know whether or not you've appreciated this post. I asked her if she'd made it herself and her reply was 'no'. So, of course, being the kind of person I am I eyeballed it and mentally made note of how it looked. Later I went about trying to find the right components to make a similar style necklace and here is what I ended up with...<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxtWhdsFR_JfkVhyphenhyphenoFnchxOY74RgLa9c5SfZAzyRYlMVxUEeP6b-VHEULeoKtPabSsYoLSGiIkgJPuUOsXx86MpiKpcVZx-iGhn4Awd-j6XkKwInMVybCxZaS-O1dhgi_URWXduBY68yI/s1600-h/Natural+Necklace+2.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5225583183878429026" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxtWhdsFR_JfkVhyphenhyphenoFnchxOY74RgLa9c5SfZAzyRYlMVxUEeP6b-VHEULeoKtPabSsYoLSGiIkgJPuUOsXx86MpiKpcVZx-iGhn4Awd-j6XkKwInMVybCxZaS-O1dhgi_URWXduBY68yI/s400/Natural+Necklace+2.JPG" border="0" /></a> I used hemp for the necklace, silver spacer bead, Swarovski crystals, a silver bail, silver chain, jumprings and headpins. This "wood" bead is actually some kind of melamine or resin. I bought it for cheap at Michaels. What's amazing to me is to think of what this woman probably spent on a similar-looking necklace and I made it myself and for much less.<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjezwlRXgOZPeyEZK9Q8jP8ipPEWmH9CvbMsbIs_eGBInpeDD_ZePRD9aLiL0UAOKQWz6naokDbocFnrI9nX2AtLpw-jZlAeAcQPZ9-EHjnq18X3WWoGdx422VvVqez44o8BdjM6rqKK_Y/s1600-h/P7210013.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5225583192111116082" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjezwlRXgOZPeyEZK9Q8jP8ipPEWmH9CvbMsbIs_eGBInpeDD_ZePRD9aLiL0UAOKQWz6naokDbocFnrI9nX2AtLpw-jZlAeAcQPZ9-EHjnq18X3WWoGdx422VvVqez44o8BdjM6rqKK_Y/s400/P7210013.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><div></div>Tah tah for now!<br /><div></div><br /><div></div>Donna Dhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06017120301677787854noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-319006763067110208.post-58364453889340183492008-07-19T18:00:00.008-04:002008-07-19T19:50:57.539-04:00Wire Jig Chandelier Earrings<div>Well, today I'm back to making jewelry. I recently bought a wire jig from Michaels to try out. I eventually want to get good enough at using it so I can buy some sterling silver wire. It would be a little too expensive to say "oops" every time I bent something the wrong way!</div><div> </div><div>So, here it goes...</div><div><br /></div><div></div><div><br /></div><div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5224851921807367202" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSQC79MR_9H76a0koe9GqUhO65pT11AbCNQbLdhU1kPhSZkpnk5KkYuZwdSfP1VYv4V2tPGxGI3VxGJdkzxi3PfNFH-4SdHBj9Z_1BrBzMsIuscPBf6BZW0Ce7MWe1lXmLBZPVa9oQhTQ/s400/P7190001.JPG" border="0" /></div><div> </div><div>The wire I'm using is copper-filled and 18 gauge. The lower the number the thicker the wire is, the higher the number the thinner the wire is. The pegs for this jig can be placed wherever you want in the holes to create the design you're looking for.<br /></div><div></div><div><br /></div><div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5224851925181665506" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQ4F9re0th6Y9U1Hs6d4fH51YZf2tXVjuwyLno1dyjmM9B8ITqfhrZR76OjQlbUuBSDpxS1NsTtaSh9gaxBaNVrWUNjKkrNU9j2XmFIUmW03roE2XR3Zu9SYZYjIjjnOvZJl-yKwpOtNY/s400/P7190002.JPG" border="0" /></div><br /><div> </div><div>Once you've got your design complete, pull the wire gently off the pegs and use wire cutters to snip the end off before you tuck it under or make your final loop.</div><div><br /> </div><div></div><div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5224851934819958866" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5j5BK_xReB3J8LQ8TT93Zs13oAAMuCZPvNwvsCCJW5G0mz4fnLfCdnu5LZCvQ8RJUk41wdC1VkJ5AMB5BNfGq5AN0ZVrEiUYep_voydJ5IBzPQN03Vi_hrIGXsvVAMGRuxmswrWLc-qs/s400/P7190004.JPG" border="0" /></div><div> </div><div>Like my "anvil" below? ha ha! I'm using three 4mm bicones and one 6mm bicone for each earring. The findings I need are an earwire, three headpins and five jumprings. I'm making loops on each headpin. Here are varying stages on the dangles I'm making...<br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5224851940343710562" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5moNKPwGwnLy9tHe5kBS119Uj9aGPaYOoUYQkZN9-8e5YMofDx8WiaAVwGQaKn9-_ZfbSYoDMfWbZ5cekJp5oTtJH6Yr5_EyqIF5Aa5H00dnV2mzu0kROr9rCyE1L8erT14QOOmfjgJA/s400/P7190006.JPG" border="0" /></div><br /><p>Below I am attaching the earwire to the chandelier with two jumprings...this way it will hang the proper way from my ear.</p><p><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5224853536539746178" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEia5sl3gUhz3VFK0yaKGnc8vKmn6w0locYs0BSiicdkxta2ej2j5duFHYq6WCS7MHO_Amfdhh_4dsuhlc3UO2KBmBoY62kUAHQUkR-7jxjjN3kERrT797Xo-xseJwU775KiAMnR25j_xl4/s400/P7190007.JPG" border="0" /></p><p>And here is the finished earring with dangles attached. I attached a link to splitcoaststampers.com in case you wanted a more in-depth tutorial. However, I did my best to take a few pictures to show the process in creating this card. I want to note that I made an error in mentioning the green I used. It was Mellow Moss, not Certainly Celery...my bad!<br /><br /><div></div><br /><br /><div>Anyway, this first picture shows the majority of Stampin' Up! products that I used. If I left any out in the picture, I promise I will explain in detail what I used. First off I cut a 5 1/4" x 10 1/2" piece of Barely Banana card stock, folded it and sharpened the crease using a bone folder. The additional pieces cut were as follows: Mellow Moss 5" x 5", Regal Rose 4 3/4" x 4 3/4" and glossy white card stock at 4 1/2" x 4 1/2". There is an additional piece of glossy card stock to stamp the word "Bonjour" on...2" x 2" would be sufficient.</div><div></div><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2IhKpnjyHoZ6gO-Nl0K4OIMCHXFbkZk_H34wjmoFT7G1zfxfJRo0jpUtzXJSKVdEeedvdL8ia8YuLFPPTS-HcpQM0ULCYMwBwgooRQlYlWj5JWuG3TmFs5YeQceZrzT0iTL7T_2G8mEY/s1600-h/Magnolia+1.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5224176959662948274" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2IhKpnjyHoZ6gO-Nl0K4OIMCHXFbkZk_H34wjmoFT7G1zfxfJRo0jpUtzXJSKVdEeedvdL8ia8YuLFPPTS-HcpQM0ULCYMwBwgooRQlYlWj5JWuG3TmFs5YeQceZrzT0iTL7T_2G8mEY/s400/Magnolia+1.JPG" border="0" /></a> Using Stazon black ink stamp the word Bonjour (from the Carte Postale stamp set) onto the center of your small piece of glossy card stock and set aside. For a large stamp like "From The Garden" I prefer to flip the stamp over and ink it as shown below. This way I can be sure to get the stamp completely inked.<br /></div><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhNtH6UXYjRMRTipBzb6Bh7cBGdYPSAs_xwSO49-q_zn0WnPOv19beQNXUS1wzqrx9sdIcLd1UqwLgWNKc4vO6rbL-X7Eed3FC8UlMZo_TD9wbWoDrDAw3jm5kb4VAIoHCUV-YWF0EJ7w/s1600-h/Magnolia+2.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5224176971902915538" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhNtH6UXYjRMRTipBzb6Bh7cBGdYPSAs_xwSO49-q_zn0WnPOv19beQNXUS1wzqrx9sdIcLd1UqwLgWNKc4vO6rbL-X7Eed3FC8UlMZo_TD9wbWoDrDAw3jm5kb4VAIoHCUV-YWF0EJ7w/s400/Magnolia+2.JPG" border="0" /></a> Then I place the 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" piece of white card stock, glossy side down onto the inked stamp and gently, but firmly rub over the back of the card stock to ensure that every part of the image is transferred onto it. Make sure not to let the card stock slide around on the stamp or you will end up with a very blurry image! To remove the card stock just pick up the stamp and flip it over. Again, this is to avoid a blurry image.<br /></div><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhj1PgP3kVYn0UbaOTp7AVB33T19pKAomMeRPQwzXjYj0eD7YbH-F8Myvbo6BuJwVChvi2XUROhJmAbisd3P1WFh34xuzfZbDu-k2Gwb_f4O1riH_3YwUBYf_3SvPHbZLCyeCo8LLS4fd8/s1600-h/Magnolia+3.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5224176972689692642" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhj1PgP3kVYn0UbaOTp7AVB33T19pKAomMeRPQwzXjYj0eD7YbH-F8Myvbo6BuJwVChvi2XUROhJmAbisd3P1WFh34xuzfZbDu-k2Gwb_f4O1riH_3YwUBYf_3SvPHbZLCyeCo8LLS4fd8/s400/Magnolia+3.JPG" border="0" /></a> Your next step is to take an ordinary white crayon and highlight the areas of the stamp that you would like to have remain white. What happens is you will color over your image, then wipe the card stock with a tissue and it will remove any ink that is over the crayon highlights you colored. Now be sure to have a light hand in this! You want to avoid pressing the crayon too hard...it will look odd once you color it. Try to imagine a light-source over your object...in this case mine would be the sun. Look at the textures of the flower and leaves and see where they would have light bouncing off of them.<br /></div><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKxNUC5yBxYE2dQJJDxdCHOa7YrN_MRf5OcG403sJNuFbeao85DOfkj3nzC_ZRSH-6iwNIHYor-OCPAtlavL-80uVNen2enF-hnhxPscllKyejgRnLYzCSIjfwO5rp6pQowzCZfcWKHNc/s1600-h/Magnolia+4.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5224176980852443938" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKxNUC5yBxYE2dQJJDxdCHOa7YrN_MRf5OcG403sJNuFbeao85DOfkj3nzC_ZRSH-6iwNIHYor-OCPAtlavL-80uVNen2enF-hnhxPscllKyejgRnLYzCSIjfwO5rp6pQowzCZfcWKHNc/s400/Magnolia+4.JPG" border="0" /></a> To color on glossy card stock you'll want to use either your classic ink pads or your Stampin' Write Markers. (Chalks will not work!) To use your ink pads, just press firmly on the outside of the pad between your fingers and then when you open it you will find a small pool of ink left on the inside of the cover. Here I used an Aqua Painter with my Mellow Moss ink pad. You can also use Blender Pens or a watercolor brush, whichever you feel most comfortable with.<br /></div><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinJHApCQ32ImxnDVPXubmZoEsc1crDlYFki5yiLXYsPpAEaGCbAilygf3-ifPufx-E1iLQlpDv299sVw78kYLNQHhT2r3aklLBXOngPR7oBS7rm8qdWPbeDv6uWgkBI1wRbETL42PXsgc/s1600-h/Magnolia+5.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5224176985349398962" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinJHApCQ32ImxnDVPXubmZoEsc1crDlYFki5yiLXYsPpAEaGCbAilygf3-ifPufx-E1iLQlpDv299sVw78kYLNQHhT2r3aklLBXOngPR7oBS7rm8qdWPbeDv6uWgkBI1wRbETL42PXsgc/s400/Magnolia+5.JPG" border="0" /></a> I colored in the leaves without worrying about where I used the white crayon. And because I don't have a Barely Banana ink pad I used my Stampin' Write Marker to color in the petals of the flower. Just stay in the lines!</div><div></div><div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5224186920586450018" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhl_yJNbGBsz8KAr8d_EiFUURzbHSCskQSub5J0B5D5_geTN1wPfHHypioqqYWNAwXiNalgKXHS8eqAtEpfhz1zZqVDe7kRGjJwHRe_LxX6QaoK_bTxwwtfzhBWJOiQ9OsRVl2SIMznJ0Y/s400/Magnolia+6.JPG" border="0" />Next I used a tissue to gently wipe off the ink from the crayon-highlighted areas. </div><div><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5224186925635838098" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFppsBd9b5brhn1fshHZzXJh8bzdCY-imDG1GCJqhleajQGinoIEgHtgCbhvM3UIrKua3uKpoNu-0CZ6XHDCX-P4bgShls-KCuYY7frBkul0EsNi9RbdIIFhePqHkTHZBeQVXSP4jhs-M/s400/Magnolia+7.JPG" border="0" /></div><div>Then I used by Regal Rose marker to color in the area near the center of the flower.</div><br /><div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5224186934006165394" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_dUa0N10_7b9so7n0hjOynGExS0FoaYUL8TV48pXS4NQ4aHNJ3W1wDwuOFuLxIn60dDWh0qD6BiJmrBDzQ2w7jRMrVhWdBtGPdjsDc-k3xZOnLX2fyD_kfrzq6RJBWXaa2wz-qn9sYwA/s400/Magnolia+8.JPG" border="0" /></div><div>I started to use my ticket corner punch on the corners here, but then I realized...</div><br /><div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5224186937718184770" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWmlDtHMj61dZXCz80G0UzMQBywQCbxnOgOIyIOfIhk8SYRNsUtydSQ3QWfELxvc0YTOsugdTYYoZxeQjXtxd5sPI3sFNJ0i-5fP1dz2DWLQX_xgvX9nQlUPY7svhtndmeeIOz2IJptuw/s400/Magnolia+9.JPG" border="0" /></div><div>that I wanted a larger area taken away. So instead I used my Slit punch...ingenious, huh? (Yeah, I know, I'm not the first one to come up with that idea!)</div><br /><div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5224186948452320594" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhd3hmHSQXvcEZ0H9XINAbrriEwusai6M3Ua6Lkg5tdIPBUuQfDFz0kXHRbE1xZ7wgznpfWuZEYUUabMJkRquKoffSa8hpwJd0GGkY2ggBR2Oypz8tQ3EYaXq68maF7ZGY-EEgcg8TQ-MU/s400/Magnolia+10.JPG" border="0" /> Okay, so now back to the word Bonjour that you stamped at the beginning. I used my Color Spritzer tool and Regal Rose marker to speckle the card stock with color. However, you can use a sponge to do a similar effect.</div><div><br /></div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5224191285373642034" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1mR68LCcItah7AUSqWY8x5-zBBwqqocHHKal3pwgHJwXf-k-_s_gnCqH_ToSafQZGOaBZWqtQcFwUVD97KZIXK2NMZPwonkUJLHG5PLLIc-xy5Mghx7hy31o3JBMwasRkdw_U8XT-zcs/s400/Magnolia+11.JPG" border="0" />Now center the word in the middle of the 1 3/8" Circle Punch. Remember to always punch your images by looking at the back side of the punch. This way you can see exactly what you'll be punching out and won't have any surprises! Then I just lined all around the edge of the circle using my Regal Rose marker to finish it.<br /><br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5224191293048882674" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8QXaQSi39i-C23oSZT7imj6S1kfAiDanjaNGGt0o2fOo3aYhQugT8yyrdQUXHzphdgWhT9iutHnhjhguTgOctHACMjuC97Ji1JuWOCo4io450MbYUvUk4XqtxLXqw5Ktxa-oqUID0krw/s400/Magnolia+12.JPG" border="0" />Using a glue stick I adhered the first three layers of card stock. Don't glue it onto your Barely Banana card stock yet because you need to punch holes in the four corners. Add your gold brads next. What I like to do is to give one little smack to the back of the brads using my small hammer. This way they'll be really flat in the back and won't stick up once you glue this final layer onto your card.<br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5224191302388712882" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikJ53onzrp50lMXao_PbVHlExgyqv9rAjcC-3tJ-0KewQk938VToS8dWbZitTF2L7Bb_eVmYiY6GhxGyyKr7VPzpDqICVJ5gHltu_UYwSJKqbz-PPiSmZ7cZEwYXW8jzDGXZ8dGTd2dto/s400/Magnolia+13.JPG" border="0" /><br /><br /><p>To finish off this card I stuck a Stampin' Dimensional onto the back of the Bonjour circle to pop it up on the front for added depth. And I always decorate my envelopes as well, so I used my markers one last time to color directly onto a floral stamp in the Carte Postale stamp set and stamped it four times without recoloring the stamp. This way it gradiated up the front of the envelope and made it look so soft.</p><p><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5224191304981659570" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOoEXYqs0tmkZjjdbCzFg9ex3djgcCIHQCyan0BC9sXNENeb4xs_lIQUxqZVBPTKi_TU8uh01aQ_59XFBgyMHsrbM2jKRI6kKyvimxj4z0sZJhCgtt5r4yT9gDYluriAyC-ctcsJ12nbU/s400/Magnolia+14.JPG" border="0" /></p><p>Well, that's it! I hope you enjoyed my card tutorial. Whew...what a project. Now I understand what goes into making these kinds of tutorials. My hats off to those of you who do such an amazing job on your blogs! I hope you enjoy mine, even in it's infant state and continue to come back to check out my latest projects. And, again, all comments are welcome. Bye for now!</p><p></p>Donna Dhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06017120301677787854noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-319006763067110208.post-26228622824691781512008-07-16T22:14:00.010-04:002008-07-16T23:41:35.385-04:00Finally some Stampin' Up! pictures!<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEih3IwcY7omlqoJIDKgxO9aRtR1s2ERBNMUTZwajQsIm3t2FcIHlq-TV1i0yD53tmmL198OhfKk4dB_CFqtT_qDOpyZWAmT1UKYxJCn-7YlDEG9_8B99BZOO06NYWKU1xCPpy9GCoYEUUs/s1600-h/Magnolia.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5223806438770149506" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEih3IwcY7omlqoJIDKgxO9aRtR1s2ERBNMUTZwajQsIm3t2FcIHlq-TV1i0yD53tmmL198OhfKk4dB_CFqtT_qDOpyZWAmT1UKYxJCn-7YlDEG9_8B99BZOO06NYWKU1xCPpy9GCoYEUUs/s400/Magnolia.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />After charging the battery on my camera I finally took pictures of a few of my latest cards. I do plan on explaining my colors and how I went about making them, but for now I want to get some of the photos on line to "entice" you!<br /><br /><br />Card making is very relaxing to me. Unless I'm scrambling to make one for a birthday party that my six year-old is going to. Speaking of which...guess what I'll be doing later this evening? When I first started making cards I truly had no idea what I was doing. Then I was introduced to <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">Stampin</span>' Up! by a neighbor of mine at a workshop and I was hooked! I learned how to cut and layer <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">card stock</span> and how to come up with the color combos that look good.<br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />As I continue to grow and explore I learn about new techniques to try. Depending on their level of difficulty it may be the last time I try a particular technique. For inspiration, instead of looking to another website for ideas, I've been learning to really notice what attracts my attention. Whether it be colors that are appealing, arrangements of objects and their relation to each other or nature. It's so simple now to be hit with an "a-ha!" and run up to my craft room and try my hand at creating something. I've even dreamt of ideas! The point is, however you get your inspiration, just go with it. You never know what great project you can create!<br /><br /><br /><br />This "<span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2">Bonjour</span> Magnolia" card is the perfect example. I saw the most beautiful flower growing wild in my yard. I think it was a morning glory or clematis because it was on a vine. The color is what struck me though. It was a creamy white flower with a blush color in the center. Immediately I thought of this stamp called "From The Garden" that I just had to watercolor! All products I used were <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_3">Stampin</span>' Up! I used glossy white <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_4">card stock</span> with regal rose, barely banana and certainly celery <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_5">card stocks</span>. I stamped the image using black <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_6">Stazon</span> ink and then colored it in using my aqua-painter and ink from my classic stamp pads in regal rose, barely banana and certainly celery.<br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />Then I used the <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_7">Bonjour</span> stamp from the "<span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_8">Carte</span> <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_9">Postale</span>" stamp set, punch it out using the 1 3/8" circle punch and then sponged regal rose around the edges and popped it up using a <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_10">Stampin</span>' Dimensional. I finished it off by using the ticket corner punch on the edges of the glossy white <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_11">card stock</span> and placed gold brads in each corner. I hope you like it!Donna Dhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06017120301677787854noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-319006763067110208.post-25624448253129104422008-07-15T21:53:00.006-04:002008-07-15T22:39:15.101-04:00I'm on a roll now!<div><br /><br /><div>Well, I'm moving along quite nicely now. I figured out how to change the time stamp on this blog. It had me on Pacific Time...I needed Eastern! </div><br /><br /><div>So, after my first post I was inspired to finally take pictures of some of my jewelry and upload them. I'll have to figure out how to take better pictures though. I'm not doing the jewelry justice. I love the way light bounces off the facets of the Swarovski crystals!</div><div></div><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUtUYZfZcMXbbFMOPG6UpOzQs1KHsjELndC-4KNUOxXtLshvTPSKhy9w6yLNrWRWFoVK4KKGudT9bmm2Ju6MZMA84qnYec4BtHe0FPUBwML6pSpaRHfXDshdGPUyRLZq3f6KPXlNwGRmY/s1600-h/Montana,+Lt+Peach+%26+Cantaloupe+(natural).JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5223430259246365154" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUtUYZfZcMXbbFMOPG6UpOzQs1KHsjELndC-4KNUOxXtLshvTPSKhy9w6yLNrWRWFoVK4KKGudT9bmm2Ju6MZMA84qnYec4BtHe0FPUBwML6pSpaRHfXDshdGPUyRLZq3f6KPXlNwGRmY/s320/Montana,+Lt+Peach+%26+Cantaloupe+(natural).JPG" border="0" /></a></div><p align="left"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5223431477400309682" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEic2N_bLg8Fctk9BLzl6Z-L5q88LguSIrS0GJ9BPrW_TF-vn344KNDRn-dwPpkodN64TyhAG4PK3EbDzpz4BkUOyY_dzAZPRXCCho1xoeoaRG67CXBpenm-_33Yt-S5y_VBIJIrXGRXCig/s200/Montana,+Lt+Peach+%26+Cantaloupe+(Flourescent).JPG" border="0" /></p><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5223431479111643106" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBFclcQ_8yFJ13ctTpAraWXbKqiBafS5tD1hs4Ev06wOYpharjiULueMqKmcYM-QPeeD3Ybn8OMAIwG_G2hGIC2OvnuRweV_SFIryP3m2tlA_XhTOIrr3-vn5FGlpMV31KuZ1rE7hL0D8/s200/Montana,+Lt+Peach+%26+Cantaloupe+(incandescent).JPG" border="0" /><br /><br /><div></div><div>One bracelet I made was done using Swarovski crystals in Montana, Light Peach and the new Cantaloupe. Cantaloupe is a very interesting color. Depending on the light it comes off as three very different colors. This bracelet is shown above in the three photos...yes, it's the same bracelet! In natural light (larger picture) Cantaloupe shows as a light grey, in fluorescent light (top small picture) it looks like a peridot green and in incandescent light (bottom small picture) it looks like a rosy-peach color. So, needless to say I had to come up with colors that would compliment it no matter what light it would be worn in!</div><br /><br /><div>My next step will be to take pictures of my Stampin' Up! stuff. I have cards, stationary sets, clipboards and frames. Hopefully I'll sign up for another craft fair this fall. They're alot of fun to showcase your products and to meet new people. Or in some cases, the same people that you saw at the previous craft show you were in!</div><br /><br /><div>If you see any of my items that you like, I'd love to read your comments. I would appreciate all critiques, whether positive or negative. You can only learn from others and make changes to improve! Thanks for reading & please save me in your favorites.</div></div>Donna Dhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06017120301677787854noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-319006763067110208.post-30348543660287310762008-07-14T23:54:00.000-04:002008-07-15T15:20:34.115-04:00I have a blog!Well, I've been wondering about whether or not to start a blog. There are many pros and cons. The only "con" I'm worried about is actually keeping up with my blogging. I can't promise I'll be here every day...maybe not even every week...well, we'll see what I can do.<br /><br /><br /><br />Anyway, this will be a short first blog since, as you can see by the time stamp, it's WAY past my bedtime! This blog "Designed by Donna" is really a way for me to have a creative outlet. Or should I say a display for my creative outletS. (Capital "S" because I am always doing something creative!) My husband doesn't get why I do the things I do, but then again I don't get how he can watch golf. It's like watching paint dry! But I digress...<br /><br /><br /><br />I HAVE to be doing some kind of crafty/creative project every week. It doesn't have to be even remotely related to the project I was doing the week before. Just whatever my mind happens to trip over on a given day. For example, about one month ago I decided I would make completed scrapbooks to sell at a local shop for people who didn't have time to make one for themselves. They could just buy my masterpiece and pop their own pictures into my pages. I toiled and created for a week and now that 12x12 scrabook just sits on my bookshelf. I just have to get over to that shop one of these days!<br /><br /><br /><br />After that scrapbook I was tired of looking at paper and gluesticks so I pulled out my jewelry making stuff and proceeded to make four Swarovski crystal bracelets and one necklace. Again, to eventually take pictures of them and post online to sell. I still haven't taken the pictures because I have to download and save the pics on my camera to a file, then delete them from my camera and take professional-looking photos of my jewelry...well, you know where this is going.<br /><br /><br /><br />After that stall I took my stamps and ink back into hand and started creating all kinds of greeting cards. Having been a Stampin' Up! demonstrator I never made cards for myself. I made plenty of prototypes or cards to send on the fly. So I FINALLY got a chance to have some fun with my supplies. Now I'm actually enjoying SU! instead of stressing over it. Maybe now some family members will actually get to see what I do!Donna Dhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06017120301677787854noreply@blogger.com1
