New projects...

Hello everyone! I'm sorry I haven't blogged in a long time...I just haven't felt the urge to type. I've definitely been busy with several projects though! I just started taking a Wilton's Cake Decorating class at Michael's and boy is it fun! I haven't even decorated anything yet! I frosted my first project cake and I'll be decorating it tomorrow night. I hope it comes out cute! My husband said to me yesterday, "Why is it that when YOU start a new hobby it costs ME more money?" Gotta have the right tools, right?!

I've made some Stampin' Up! cards on an "as need" basis. Although I did make this card to the left that I put onto my gallery on splitcoasterstampers.com. My gallery is under pumpkin1966. I also made a card that I submitted to Stampin' Up! for their art contest. I was in such a hurry to get it submitted that I forgot to take a picture of it. The good news is that it was published on Stampin' Up!s website in their "Show and Tell" gallery! It's a rooster card that I did for their "Only Orange" category, so it's tone on tone peaches and oranges.

I've also been getting myself geared up to do some scrapbooking. I took two of my mother's OLD photo albums...you know, the ones with the photo corners holding the pictures in place! Anyway, I scanned 283 pictures from these albums and have them on 2 cd's now. (I did it at WalMart's Kodak kiosk.) MUCH easier to deal with! I then uploaded them to Shutterfly. LOVE this photo site!! I cropped and edited all the photos and then had them print 255 of them. I got them the next day even though I didn't request any special delivery!! So, currently I am trying to arrange them in a photo album that me and my kids can have access to.

It's been very interesting looking at the old baby pictures of myself. I didn't realize how much my SON looks like me when I was two! I always thought he looked like my husband...silly me!

I've also been making jewelry. A friend of mine commissioned me to make a grandmother bracelet for her mother. I did it in 14k gold and sterling silver. It's pictured at the left. The "birthstones" used to represent her grandchildren are the Swarovski crystals. I thought it came out so nice that I made myself a "mom" bracelet! I did not use my children's birthstones though. I put their names on instead using the silver cubes and made a double-strand bracelet with clear Swarovski crystals. VERY pretty! I get compliments whenever I wear it, so it makes me feel pretty good.
Whenever I have an outfit that I don't have any jewelry that goes it I just run into my craft room and whip something up! It's nice having all the supplies. I'll be heading to Asheville shortly and heard that there are several beading stores that I just HAVE to check out. I'm sure I'll replenish my supply when I'm there!
I hope everyone is doing well. Thanks for checking out my blog even though it's been such a long time. If there is anything that you would like me to post a picture of, please let me know and I'll do my best to do so. Take care!
